What is VoIP?

If you’re wondering what VoIP is, maybe EarthTel is not for you... Only kidding, VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol, and simply put allows you to make and receive calls over you're broadband internet connection. The main reason for using VOIP is to save costs on traditionally expensive mobile, interstate and international calls.

Can I bring my traditional phone number over to VoIP?

Encoo supports number porting from Telstra, Optus and AAPT. To port a number, all you need to do is fill out THIS simple porting form, listing the numbers you wish to port and submit the application. Typically porting takes between two to four weeks, during this time we will provide you with a temporary phone number/s.

What is the quality like?

We operate an Australian based voice network, with switching equipment located in multiple data centres around the country. On top of this, we peer with a range of carriers here in Australia and abroad, only using lossless codecs. This ensures minimal latency and near CD quality audio. In short you get amazing quality voice calls using our VoIP services.

How do my friends call me?

If you wish to have friends and family contact you on your VoIP phone, it’s as simple as purchasing a Direct In Dial (DID) in your location. Once assigned, friends and family can start calling you on that phone number from any phone.

How do I add funds my account?

Once again, we’ve made this very easy, once logged into “My Account”, click the “Make Payment” located under the Payments menu. Enter the amount you would like to top up your account with and press the “Proceed with Payment” button. To keep things simple and safe, we use PayPal to process all payments. Once you’ve finished the PayPal transaction, and your back within “My Account” you will notice your account balance (located in the top right hand corner of the web page) has been updated.

Are there any contracts?

We are so confident in our services we don’t need to lock you into contracts, you are free to pull the plug at any time.

What is the minimum amount I can top up my account with?

At the moment, the minimum top up value is $5.00 (AUD)

What about other VoIP enabled phone systems?

If the phone system supports open SIP standards, then there’s no reason why it shouldn’t talk with our servers.

How many channels do I get?
